For toddlers on the move, lap time may come in fits and spurts. Even though your little one is busy as can be, he still needs to be read to as he did when he was a baby. Choose books with topics that interest your toddler, or those that have soothing nighttime story themes to help him wind down after an active day of play. When reading to your toddler, resist the temptation to turn each book into a quiz on letters, shapes and colors. Take cues from him, and stop reading when he’s ready to wriggle from your lap.
