Books for little hands
Fine motor skills are movements of small muscles, for example, in the fingers. Eight-month-old babies are mastering the pincer grasp, which means they can now pick up small finger foods. Later, this grasp will allow them to hold a crayon or a pencil and take the first steps towards writing. Turning the thick pages of a board book is great way to build fine motor skills in an infant. Choose books for baby with hidden surprises, such as mirrors, flaps and textured inserts. Toys with knobs, dials and buttons are also great for strengthening fingers and building hand-eye coordination.
