Learning Stages

Make a silent e word wheel by cutting out two circles: one with a 5 inch diameter and one with a 7 inch diameter.

Write the following words radiating from the center to the edge of the 5 inch circle: tub, rob, man, plan, pin, cap, hop, can, bit, not, cut.

Then, write a single e about a 1/2 inch away from edge of the 7 inch circle.

Place the 5 inch circle centered and on top of the 7 inch circle and fasten them together through the center with a paper clip or other fastener.

As you turn the outer circle, align the silent e with each of the words you’ve printed on the smaller circle and have your child read the new words.
