You'll Need

  • Deck of cards
  • Paper
  • Pen or pencil

Learning Stages

Remove all the face cards but the aces from the deck. Use the aces as 1s. Have each player write the numbers 1–12 on a piece of paper. In each round, both players pick two cards from the deck and uses them to cross off numbers from the list. The player can use the face value of each card, the difference between them, or their total sum. For example, if your child draws a 3 and a 6, he could cross off both 3 and 6, just 3 (6 minus 3) or only 9 (6 plus 3). Whichever player crosses off all of the numbers first is the winner.
