Put it all together
Help your child practice putting sounds together to make words.
Tell your child that you are going to say some words very slowly, one sound at a time. Ask your child to put the sounds together and say the word. Sound out three- and four-letter words such as: big, bat, cat, dog, kite, run, sun, take. Be sure to say the words one sound at a time (examples: /b/.../i/.../g/ and /b/.../a/.../t/), but don’t spell the words.
